Somebody, everywhere, anyhow

In English, we use the prefixes, some, any, every and no, to describe quantities in general.  They are very common in English and you will hear them in every conversation. En inglés, utilizamos estos prefijos, some, any, every y no, para describir las cantidades en general.  Son muy cotidianos en inglés y puede oirlos  en cada conversación.

Below are the most typical examples with equivalents in Spanish and some sentences which use them.  Siguiente son los ejemplos más típicos con los equivalentes en español y algunas frases que los utilizan.

someone  -  alguien

anyone -  alguien/cualquiera

everyone - todos

no-one - nadie

Can anyone help me?  There is no-one here.  Someone told me.  Everyone has gone.

somebody - alguien

anybody - cualquiera

everybody - todos

nobody - nadie

Everybody is at the fiesta.  I can't find anybody.  Somebody will come soon. Nobody came.

somewhere - en algun lugar

anywhere - a cualquier parte

everywhere - en todas partes

nowhere - en ninguna parte

Somewhere I will find a seat.  I will go anywhere to meet you.  I have looked everywhere.  It is nowhere to be found.

somehow - de alguna manera

anyhow - de todas maneras

everyhow - (no se dice este en inglés)

nohow*?? No way - en absoluto

Somehow, I was late.  Anyhow, I'm here now.  Go back to work?  No way!

sometime - alguna vez

anytime - cuando sea, en cualquier momento

every time - cada vez que

no time, never - jamás

They will visit us sometime.*  Anytime is good for me.  Every time they come, it's fun.  In no time, the holiday is over.  It never lasts long.

(*¡Ten cuidado!... sometimeS significa a veces)

something - algo, alguna cosa

anything - cualquiera cosa

everything - todo

nothing - nada

He gave me something to read.  Do you have anything to read?  I have everything I need.  There is nothing here.

somewhat - en cierto modo, poco

I was somewhat surprised.

someway  - de alguna manera

anyway - de todas formas, fuera como fuese

no way - en absoluto

Someway we'll do the work.  Anyway, you can help me.  Help you?  No way!
(Someway no es tan común en inglés pero es común en el dialecto americano. En inglés normalmente utilizamos some way, palabras separadas)

someday - algún día

Someday, we'll come and visit you.
(Tambien se escribe some day, palabras separadas)

Some, any, every and no are also used as adjectives.

Some, any, every y no se utilizan como adjectivos también

Some day, any time, some chocolate, every Sunday, no time, some chicken...

Both, either, neither

Both - los dos, las dos, ambos, ambas

either - cualquiera either... or - o... o...

neither - ni, ninguno neither... nor - ni... ni...
